Sexual abuse of children is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation.Type of child sexual abuse include asking or pressuring a child to engage in sexual activity (regardless of outcome), giving indecent exposure of genitals to a child, displaying pornography to a child, sexual intercourse against children, physical contact with the child's genitals (except in certain non-sexual context such as medical examination), look at the child's genitalia without physical contact (except in the context of non- sexual such medical examination), or using a child to produce child pornography.

The effects of child sexual abuse include depression, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, a tendency to become more victim in adulthood, and physical injury to a child and among other issues. Sexual abuse by a family member is a form of incest, and can produce effects more serious and long-term psychological trauma, especially in the case of parental incest.

Under the law, "child sexual abuse" is a general term describing criminal and civil in which adults engage in sexual activity with minors or exploitation of minors for the purpose of sexual gratification.

The American Psychiatric Association states that "children can not approve of sexual activity with adults", and condemn such acts by adults: "An adult who engage in sexual activity with a child is committing a crime and immoral that could never be considered normal or acceptable behavior socially.
