Fasting month for Muslim community

Session closed isbat headed by the Minister of Religious Affairs (Minister) Lukman Hakim Saifuddin yesterday afternoon resulted in the decision which was a relief. The whole organization of society (organizations) of Islam agree that 1 Ramadan falls today (6/6).

Chairman of the Executive Board of the MUI, Ma'ruf Amin expressed gratitude for the start of the fasting month this year would be the same among the whole organization of society of Islam in Indonesia. That way, no more wasted time and effort to explain the differences like that ever happened. 

Prediction Ma'ruf was not perfunctory. When the new moon is observed on the 29th of Ramadan later, the new moon is still below the horizon. According to astronomical calculations, the position of the new moon later minus 1 degree below the horizon.

By doing so, the month of fasting is rounded (istikmal) to 30 days and 1 Syawal or Eid falls on Wednesday, July 6th.
