Islamic Footprint of At-Taqwa in South Kalimantan

Ketapang is one of the first city which is  often referred to as the entrance to the spread of Islam in West Kalimantan. One of the traces on its history is At-Taqwa mosque. it is located in the Village Kauman Sub Continent Kayong, the mosque itself has established  since the Kingdom Matan stand two centuries ago.

Based on the narrative the former Head of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Ketapang, Yudo Sudarto, initially layout  At-Taqwa Jami Mosque is located right on the edge of Pawan River

Relocation to the present location of the old mosque, which is at Jalan KH Ahmad Dahlan, Village Kauman Sub Continent Kayong, took place in 1950. The relocation was pioneered and conducted by the great scholars Kauman long lived in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, H. Muhammad Ali Usman.

Once the construction of its mosque had  completed, Usman who had lived in Mecca Saudi Arabia, taught at Darul Ulum. He died in Bandung, West Java, March 30, 1988.

Yudo said,  At-Taqwa  mosque was one of  important heritage of Islamic civilization in West Kalimantan.
" Right now, a  pillar of its original mosque just  left one, which can be a witness to history and change the name of At-Taqwa Mosque in Kauman village," he explained.
the mosque was built during the reign of Panembahan H. Gusti Muhammad Sabran who ruled the kingdom of Matan in Mulia Kerta in 1876-1909. 
Former Head of Culture and Tourism Ketapang, Ermansyah explained

At-Taqwa Mosque in the days of the Kingdom of Matan is the only mosque in Ketapang. Thus, when the Muslims from the area around Ketapang, such as State Kampung Baru, Kampung Mulia Kerta, Kampung Arab, and others, when carrying out the Friday Prayer will flock toward the mosque.
recently, the situation outside and inside  at At-Taqwa  was already rehabilitated wholly, so that the impression of an ancient mosque was no longer visible. The mosque itself is still being used for various activities  ranging from Fajr Salat, Friday prayer, until Salat Tarawih in this fasting month.
